[Elecraft] Circuit Board Soldering Question

Hi Dennie,

The key thing is to avoid mistakes. On a board as complex as the K2, a
single misplaced component or a bad solder joint can take a long time to
find.

I like to insert several components and then solder because it saves a lot
of time, but this can be counterproductive if you try to work for a long
time and get tired, or if your distracted. I limit my work time to about an
hour at a stretch and I make sure there won't be any distractions. Even
then I still had a bad solder joint that took quite a while to find :^)

Whatever works best for you is the way to go. Take it easy, enjoy the
construction phase of the project and you'll be pleased with the final
results.

Subject: [Elecraft] Circuit Board Soldering Question

Hello all:
Well, finally received my K2 (SN# 3930) and, slowly but surely, assembly is
progressing well.
One question though; In the manual the instructions say to insert several
components and then solder all of them at once. After building several other
projects I have found that placing one piece and then soldering it seems to
work better and stop mistakes. My question, is there any reason for not
doing it this way?
Thanks for reading this post and I thank all of you for your prior answers
and, I am sure, there will be many more to follow.
