Yes, this can be a benefit in disguise if it fills in the nulls at the
ends of a dipole that you would prefer to be more omni.
Remember that nulls are generally created by cancellation of equal
fields.
I've done it a different way on my dipole that runs E-W. To fill in the
null that develops off the end (and would point toward San Francisco),
I pull the dipole about ten degrees off of a straight line and also
allow one end to be about 8 ft lower than the other. I'm still deader
off the ends, but not the deep nulls that would otherwise occur.
