[Elecraft] K2 toroid winding question...

Robin,
There are two reasons for twisting the wires that I am aware of:
1. The toroid is easier to wind because the pair will act similar ot winding
with one wire.
2. The two wires will remain close to each other - acting like a parallel
transmission line (actually a twisted pair) The impedance is determined by
the diameter and spacing of the wires themselves, and will not change
substantially with the number of twists per inch (don't twist so tightly
that the twists 'wrap up' on each other)
So if you see the wires separating substantially while you are winding the
toroid, they are not twisted enough, that is about the only consideration.

When winding bi-filar toroids for the K2 - how critical is is that they
cross-over every half inch. I mean if it's every quarter inch, would that
create a problem?
