And that is the way I do it on my personal mics (I use several mics with my
K2) - but the resistor is a tight fit in the plug housing. Building up an
adapter is another way to accomplish that feat, and may be the only way if
one is using a particular mic for several transceivers.
When I build for others, I am more inclined to follow the directions more
closely so that others can still use the published documentation. In this
particular case, I did not have the mic available, so I could not put it
into the plug anyway - the resistor went on the back of the mic connector.
