My main concern with internal NiMH cells is the frequency of having to 
change them -- not the power output they produce.  I regard the 
connector from the battery holder to the rig to be a bit fragile and 
capable of limited plug-unplug cycles.  For that reason the internal 
batteries for my KX1 will always be Li AAs and I will use NiMH in a 10 
cell external pack unless I am looking for minimal mass when backpacking 
or such.
