[Elecraft] Neat little switching power supply

Julian
Before putting it on my K2, I would check it with a few different
values of load resistors to see what the voltage regulation is like.
The laptop load consists of two parts, battery charging and operating
the laptop. In my two laptops, the battery charging load seems to be
fairly constant, so I suspect something similar in others as well.
With a fairly constant load on the supply, it may not need to be well
regulated. Unfortunately, on a varying load like the K2, that would
allow the voltage to jump around, perhops to a dangerously high (for
the K2) value.
Good luck and 73

I've got a Toshiba laptop and the 15V, 5A PSU with that has the model
number PA3083U. I can't hear any hash from it. I haven't tried using it
to power my K2. Off-load, I measure the voltage as 15.4V. I wonder what
that would do to the K2?

It's model PA2450U, and has a rated output of 15V 3A. On the K2,
full-power key-down into a dummy load gives a reading on the display of
14.1V and 2.5A with a good clean tone. I paid $20 plus shipping for it.
