Michael,
FB and thanks for the info - I did not have the errata page.
Actually it is the MH-2 that I really wanted - blame 'fat fingers' or 'a
senior moment'.
As for soldering the resistor to the header - I won't do that either -
soldering between pins 1 and 6 on the back of th mic jack will work just
fine too.

That says the electret is the same in the MH2 and MD2 mics.
Step 6 on KSB2 errata rev C-5 says
Page 18, Table 2: If you plan to use an Elecraft MH2 microphone, follow the
instructions supplied with the
mic. The mic kit includes 8 small jumper blocks for configuring the Front
Panel mic header, as well as a 5.6-k
resistor for providing bias to the mic element. The resistor must be
soldered between pins 1 and 6 of the header
after the 8 jumper blocks have been installed. NOTE: Do not disassemble the
MH2 microphone, as it may be
difficult to reassemble it correctly. If the unit appears to be defective,
return it to Elecraft for replacement.
Of course, the K2 was supplied with a 10 K resistor....
So, my vote is 5.6 K between pin 1 and 6 of the header, but I don't
like the idea of soldering it there.
