A possible (partial) solution):

I have just placed on my web site a 2-page searchable PDF (690kB)
containing ONLY the parts placement illustrations from the K2 Rev E Manual.

Using Dave's suggestion, below, you can use Acrobat Reader to SEARCH for
the desired component and have Reader highlight the component label within
the board layout diagram. This is a WONDERFUL feature of Acrobat Reader.

Please note that the PDF file is rather large (esp. for being only two
pages), but I think this is probably due to the fact that the two pages
contains a LOT of 'references' and that they are high-res renderings of the
PC board component placement diagram (which CAN, and should, be ZOOMed up
to a larger format for viewing). Anyway, PLEASE do NOT view the file
on-line, but SAVE it to your Hard Drive and then view it off-line later.

You can find the 2-page searchable PDF at:

   http://home.earthlink.net/~n0ss

Once there, drop down to the bottom of the page and click on the DOWNLOAD
PAGE link. At the DOWNLOAD page, drop down to the articles related to the
K2. The subject PDF is the last listing in that section.
