The serial number is 3000 or higher, right?

I think Appendix E page 13 step 6 revision E is wrong.  The
side tone source is not pin 25 of U6, it is pin 4 of U8.  You
should see AC voltage on pin 4 of U8, not on pin 25 of U6.

The drain is the part that connect to RP7 pin 6.  You should see
AC voltage there.

Pin 1 on U8 is the volume control - no voltage there, no sidetone,
even if Q5 is good.  Be sure that ST L is set to 255.

There used to be an issue about setting the side tone source between
U8 pin 4 or U6 pin 25 in firmware.  I don't know if that applies.
