[Elecraft] K2 #3400 got new encoder

Hi,

Some time ago I was searching for something in Elecraft 
reflector archives, and found a link to very interesting
Ken's (WM5R) article about replacing encoder in K2:

As I'm one of those who don't like to switch tuning rates often,
and usually stays at 10Hz, I ordered 100 CPR encoder (Digikey
part# 102-1005-ND) to get 4x tuning rate. It arrived today, 
and the replacement went without any problems.

I'm delighted with the modification. Tuning is fast and smooth,
and the feeling is almost as if you are using analog VFO. Perfect!

The best improvement is with SSB. 10Hz tuning rate with original 
K2 encoder was too slow, but with this encoder, it is just as it
should be.
