I should take this opportunity to point out that traps are not such a =
bad thing. The marketing departments of certain companies have jumped on =
the "no-trap is good" bandwagon to push their no-trap designs. W8JI has =
a great write-up on trap losses on his webpage.

Edmund,
the B&W folded dipole achieves the wide bandwidth through a lossy =
termination. The radiation efficiency is about 30% max at 40 meters and =
above. I have analyzed this antenna and designed a monopole version of =
it (see AntenneX magazine 2 years ago). The Alpha Delta appears to be a =
number of parallel dipoles. While these don't provide a great match, an =
antenna tuner is part of the installation and will make it work well. =
The Alpha Delta should be roughly 4-6 dB above the B&W.

I am trying to choose between a Barker & Williamson Broadband Folded =
Dipole antenna BWD-1.8-30 and an Alpha Delta Shortened Multibander DX-CC =
for my K2.
Does anyone have any experience with either of these antennas that could =
help me decide?
