Thanks for your help and advice.  Where it stands now:
I replaced U6, Q9 and Q10.  Since Q9 Emitter was open to ground I 
shorted it to ground on L1.


CAL FCTR  w/o probe plugged in  ---w/ probe into control board
Q9
E=0 ---/0
B=.48 to .52---/.65
C=.26 to .31 ---/.712
Q10
E=0.../0
B=.57 to 6.1 ---/.65
C= .43 to 51 ---/.712

I only measured a few times so the ranges w/o the probe vary.  Still 
00000.00 display.  Again, I've run out of ideas.
