[Elecraft] Question re: callsign prefixes

There was one guy that no matter how log I listened, neither I nor MixW
could decode his callsign. I need to write a bit of software that will
record this machine-gun fire and then play it back slowed down. Although
MixW will already do the recording.
There were a few stations that had programmed their keyers to crank up
the speed when sending the exchange so that it just sounded like a noise
burst. Presumably they figure that the other guy knows the report will
be 599 and their logger will give them the zone number. Which begs the
question, why bother with the exchange at all?

Here's how I often unscramble these burst transmissions
Make a note of the time and frequency of the station. Then
go to the DX Summit web sight where spots are posted. [snip]
