Thanks to everyone for your thoughtful responses to my request for 
assistance.  A D44, eh?  I'll nail him for sure next time.

CQWW was a blast.  The first guy I contacted was my first contact ever on my 
newly completed KX1.  I didn't set out to compete, but I'm glad there are 56 
hams out there who got a few extra points because of me.  CQWW was a great 
shakedown run.  I became familiar with its operation very quickly and my CW 
copying improved a lot too...but not quite enough for D44TD!

Anyway, thanks again.  Call me if you hear me!
