K1EV gave me a few of his notes from yesterdays attempt on 30 meters and then on
20 meters.
He told me VE3XM tried to check in on 30 and that AA3WF and K1EV had a contact. I
am not sure how far I can work on 30 meters at 2330z but I am sure I can't get East of
the Mississippi. We may need to have regional nets and then pass the results around
during the 20 meter net. I was hoping to get some folks' attention in the middle of the
country (WY, ND, SD, NEB, KS, OK, TX, MN, IA, MO, AR, LA, MT, CO, NM &tc) But it
was just an experiment to see what could be done with my meagre setup on 30
meters. I heard no one but others did, your mileage may vary.
On 20 meters K1EV copied KH6NO/W7 where I copied K5BNO/W7. Will the real
amateur step up and sign in please? He also had an addition of KD8K - Sonny - OH
There was a QSO going on way underneath all of this. I could not make out anything
other than a few dits but they could not hear us it appears. So do we check in K6SOJ
and AL7N? I think not.
There was another question: Bill thought an 817 driver wasn't allowed on ECN. Not
true, we let anybody and everybody fend for themselves on ECN. There is no pride
here :) Except we built our rigs and they didn't! But they will just have to live with
that fact :) Maybe we can convince them that Wayne and Eric need more money and
they will hear just how good this rigs sound. But they will be missing the best part:
hearing how good this rigs listen! But any converts to the Elecraft way are fine in my
book. So don't turn away your friends simply because they have not been initiated via
the smells of multicore solder. All are welcome and they will always have a place on
ECN.
