It would be more economical to buy a cheap iron with a bigger bit,
Edward. You could use it for tinning the toroids and I am sure it would
come in for other jobs in the future that require a larger bit.

I've found the GC electric desolder pump to be the most economical solution
(about $27.00 at Jamco). It's great for removing mis-installed components
and by inserting the toriod lead into the tube and adding a little solder,
let it cook for 5 or 10 seconds, the lead will come out clean, tinned and
ready to solder. Takes a little practice but it's worth it.
