Ed,

It sounds like an RF problem.  Try holding the MODE button while in CW =
mode to put the K2 into test.
Listen to the side while you use the key.  If this works, but it doesn't =
in operate mode, then it is an RF
problem.

I'm guessing that C1 and C2 on the RF board are being charged up through =
the 1N4148s from
"RF in the shack".  If C1 and C2 don't charge up equally, then on key =
closure, and discharge through
R1 and R2, the DOT and DASH line will go through voltage sense threshold =
at different times, and
register as a paddle instead of a key.
