[Elecraft] Installing BFO Xtal X3 for the K2

I'm trying to fathom the special instruction on 
how to install BFO crystal X3; I don't see how 
inserting the leads thru the PC board holes, 
clipping and bending them over and then soldering 
them will prevent interference with the later 
install of L33, when compared to the normal (my 
normal) method of installing the crystal, 
soldering with a minimum amout of solder (so the 
solder's flush with the holes - most having been 
"wicked into" the PC board holes), and then 
clipping the leads as close to the board as 
possible.  What am I missing here?  It's probably 
staring me in the face but I'm not getting it.
