[Elecraft] K1 LCD Backlighting

If there was one feature I want to make the K1 more enjoyable to operate =
it would be an illuminated display.  With relatively few buttons and =
knobs, many of the commonly used controls on the K1 are accessed via =
menus.  This requires seeing the LCD, which is not easy in situations =
where there isn't a lot of light falling directly on the K1's front =
panel.  Because it is recessed in the front panel and vertical (when not =
using the stand) it can be difficult to see even in a well lit room.  I =
tried various schemes of edge lighting the stock LCD and didn't find an =
acceptable solution.  This week I received a transreflective LCD from =
Andy KA1GGT and installed it along with two small green LEDs for back =
lighting.  The results are excellent and the total current draw for the =
backlighting is only 12 mA.  If you'd like details on how I did it and =
