[Elecraft] K2 Auto-Detect Mode

To All:

I'm using the K2 Auto-Detect Mode as described in the K2 Manual with a paddle and my Vibroplex bug with the appropriate diodes. I'm able to activate the Auto-Detect mode and bypass the keyer when I use the bug but it frequently reverts back to the keyer while I'm still sending with the bug. I get an erratic iambic pattern as if the detection circuit no longer sees a simultaneous pulling down of the dot and dash lines. I'm using 1N914 diodes, perhaps I should use 1N5817 or 1N4148 diodes instead? Any suggestions?
