Here is a reply I received from Gary when I made a similar enquiry when
I we doing the A to B upgrade a few weeks ago. It should answer your

No change in the IOC is necessary unless the latest K2 MCU v2.03D is
installed, and then it must be IOC v1.07 which comes with that MCU
version. This is needed only if the KAT100 is added, and a reset is done
automatically.
Just some incremental changes were made in the intervening f/w, but the
latest MCU 2.03D and IOC 1.07 are a big change that requires a reset to
support a new EEPROM format that is needed to free up space for the
KAT100 operation. These two PICs are a matched set, not to be used with
any other previous versions.
