[Elecraft] KAT2 -Help with lock washer confusion

Thanks Don.
Well. It probably does not matter much. I've checked
the heights involved and either way will work without
things shorting. At least it seems that way.
Here's the confusion. (And your post added more
lockwashers and confusion :)
ATU Manual REV D
p. 6 step 6: "Locate the two ... standoffs. Install . . .
using a . . . screw and one split lock washer.
Refer to the end view below."
Picture has one lockwasher on top between standoff
and PC Board, with the screw on the understide of
the PCB.
All fine.
Page 12, step 4 says: "Secure the L-C board to the
Control board standoffs using two . . . screws and
two split lock washers. [Bold] These lock washers
go between the standoffs and the PC boards, NOT
[underlined] between the PC board and screws as
on the control board."
WHAT?
Normal reading: When fitting L-C board use
washers between standoffs and PCB not between
PCB and screw [OK, clear but opposite of Don's
very sensible comments]. But then the additional
phrase is confusing "NOT between the PC board
and screws as on the control board." BUT that
is not how it was done on the control board [see
above]?!?
After scratching my head awhile, I figured you might
read the sentence this way: "Lock washers go
between the standoffs and the PCB (not between
the PCB and screws) just as you did it on the control
board." But that is not the way the sentence is
punctuated, and anyway it is completely opposite
to Don's fine logic!
Well, I'm running out of time, and think I'm just going
to do what "I" [and Don] think makes sense.
Lockwashers between Control Board and standoff
giving 1mm clearance between Ant jacks and relays
and nice fit for plugs. Lockwashers between screws
and PCB for the L-C board to give better clearance
between KAT2's toriods and top cover, and its
easier to do anyway.
If I've missed something, and it is important, please
shout right away. This baby is going in now :)
Thanks again for a great list.
Cheers,
John, N6JW [Monday getting closer and closer]
