Ron and all,
A dual channel, triggered sweep (with sweep delay) analog 'scope is the best
for all around ham work - including most of the digital tasks we may
encounter, a good storage scope, preferrably digital, is the only thing
usable for some tasks - like looking at the initial turn on response of a
power supply output, for instance - or some other very slowly reoccurring
events. But as you have already said - they have artifacts of their own. I
don't think I have ever heard it better stated than by one of my
professors - 'The engineer who believes his storage 'scope without question
is a fool!' I have found him to be right on several times, those 'scopes
can show strange things to you.

| I agree with Stuart about analog scopes being great for certain jobs.
| They tend to be heavier and bigger than the modern digital jobs, but
| they don't tend to add as many artifacts of their own to the trace
| either.
