Clay.... I went to Radio Shack and got some flush cut knippers for about 6 bucks. They have been the mainstay of my K2 building and I have about built all the modules. The flush cut took is a must. Other than that, I would save some dollars and just go to Wally-World (WalMart) and get some nice needle nose plyers, a small vice (for holding things like toroids..gently)..etc. I would also invest in a magnification light. You can get those at a office store. I got one for about $40 that has a 60 watt bulb and a good magnifying lense in too. There is also a hat you can get that has lenses too. That was a good buy at Dayton last year for 5 bucks. It is cheap, but works well. A good soldering station is a must. Lots of people have Wellers. There are some others out there on the market. Check the Elecraft web site. It should be temp controlled. Exacto knife is handy. A tin of Flux is also handy. A solder sucker is good too...Haiko is a good brand. A good DMM is a must. I checked all the resistors before installing them. Get a clear ruler too for cutting exact lengths of wire. The ruler should have English and Metric. To finish up...the magnifying stuff is real important. Although you can see all the parts, it is a small box. Of course I have the bottoms of pop-bottles for glasses...so it was really nice I had the maginification. Enjoy....I know you will.... Lee- K0WA

now dull and rusty. I would like to invest in some really high quality
stuff that will last a long time, but find the myriad brands and prices
totally confusing. Does anyone have any advice on some precision tools that
I will be happy with for a decade or two?
