Or get to a ham swap with old transformers for mikes and get one of the UTC
"ouncers" miniature audio transformer, for step down from 100kohm or so to
600 ohm for the mike input of K2.

There is plenty of room in base of an unamplified D104 to also put in a FET
source follower which would go from high impedance at gate to low impedance
off source resistor to drive K2.  Just needs drain voltage brought up mike
cable.
