Further to my earlier request, in case anyone else is interested in 
building a spectrum analyzer from a set of boards and a kit, go to:

It looks more advanced than a K2 (no screen printed component locations on 
the boards to save cost and a lot of "fun" screening the component boards 
in Hammond boxes, plus the need for a +/- 15v power supply) but it has a 
help group based round one of the designers, W7ZOI with links from the USA 
Kanga site.

This is a USA Kanga kit.  At present the UK Kanga kits are not available 
as  Kanga UK is up for sale.

Thanks to Steve G4GXL for the info.  It will be my project next winter.
