Right: but there's a catch in the maths here.

Take the basic US price and add VAT plus the Customs agent's fee. That makes
the markup a heck of a lot less than 40% - more like 15%. Then allow for the
fact that the guy invests his money up front AND needs to have jam on his
bread, and it isn't such a bad deal after all.

Having said that I ordered all my stuff from the US: and got away with a lot
of VAT :-)
