Finding the point of maximum signal with least noise is not an easy thing
to do by ear alone. There is no sharp peak as you have found. I have a
procedure for setting L34 using Spectogram but I haven't written it up yet.
Its on my list of things to be done however. Hopefully soon.

A qualified yes. It depends in part on how you set up the K2 filters. A
change in filter bandwidth will change the apparent pitch of the background
noise. Careful setting of the CAL values for FL1-4 can minimize the amount
of pitch change of a received CW signal when switching between filters. You
may not be able to get the pitch change to zero but a change of only 10 or
20 Hz may be possible. You will need to use a program like Spectogram to
set the filters to minimize pitch change.

Cheers!
