[Elecraft] K2, two problems

Did you spin C23 around several times to "seat" the contacts? These caps
are often intermittent until you do. Once you have spun them around half
a dozen times they are fine. They aren't defective, they just come that
way from the factory.

Is your RF Gain control fully UP (clockwise)? If so and the S-meter
readings change with signals being received, do the S-meter calibration
given in the K2 manual to set  Zero on the "meter" at "0".

I've just completed building #2838.  

One problem - during the power peaking process on 20M C23 peaks at
maximum (or minimum, I don't know which, but the screw slot is running
from front 
to back and the solder spot is toward the flat side on the right.)  I've
checked capacitor values in that area of the circuit and reheated all
the solder joints to no avail.

Other problem - the S-meter reads about S-3 with a dummy load connected.
Doesn't depend on band selection, nor on use of preamp or attenuator.
