This is how I prep coax cables...Strip the outer jacket the prescribed
amount..Pinch the shield between the index finger and the thumb about 1/4
inch ahead of the outer jacket, then pinch the rest of the shield the
same way with the other hand...Push your fingers together...The shield
will bunch up like a mushroom between your fingers...Take a pair of small
scissors (I use cuticle cutters) and trim around the cable, cutting off
this little mushroom, leaving you with a nice neatly cut end...Comb the
cut ends of the braid backwards over the outer jacket with a small wire
brush...Wrap the stripped end of a pigtail around the shield you just
folded back and solder it to the shield...Folding the shield back over
the outer jacket keeps the heat away from the center conductor's
insulation...Cover this joint with heat shrink tubing...
