hI,

I have a K2 and a PatComm-9000. The K2 is a better rig overall and has a
better receiver, but the PatComm has 40 watts output. I use it on PSK31
and CW. The PC filter is basically a controllable SCF LPF, and it is
effective. It is on the AF side, but it is inside the AGC loop, as the PC
has the AGC on the AF side. The PC is very simple to operate, so I use it
at special events where the public is present to prove you don't have to be
a rocket scientist to operate a ham transceiver. I bought it for use on my
sailboat, but actually it is a poor rig for that as it's receiver draws a
lot of current compared to the K2. However, it's a good rig for portable
operation if you bring along a power supply, for a second rig if your
space is limited, and for mobile operation.
