[Elecraft] Elecraft Cult

Hi Bob;

I have a PC-9000 and  two K2s here.
I like both rigs and both perform very well in digging out the weak ones.
The K2 does have an edge in the filtering on SSB since filtering is user
defined. For CW the adjustable SCARF filter in the PC-9000 is real nice in
filtering out the BK ground noise without decreasing the signal of interest.
CW virtually comes at you. You will notice the PC-9000 does get very warm
(NOT HOT) and is due to the several regulators in the unit. Plus it draws
over 1A in receive making it less attractive for backpacking.

Note even though it's still advertised on the Patcomm site, they no longer
carry the PC-9000. The PC-500 however is still available and selling very
well. The drawback is that it's only dualband but will go to 6m. Modules
are pretty cheap for extra bands and change is quick. No adjustments since
the processor sets itself up.

I really like bothe the Patcomm and Elecraft gear so since they are all US
made how about getting both to support small buisiness instead of giving
your hard earned cash to the big three.

Cheers,
Robert
