"I seem to notice that the individuals that say that they were missing
parts do not mention that they followed the instructions and performed an
inventory of the kit PRIOR to starting. My guess would be if those
builders were missing parts that there is a good change they lost them
while building the kit and failing to prepare a proper building area.
Another chance is that they destroyed the part with sloppy building
techniques and did not ant to admit their mistakes."

Since noone else openly said they were missing parts from a kit, I take
this slur to be aimed at me. Consider the following:

A) The first thing I did when I opened any kit was to do the inventory
(as always).

B) The next thing I would do if any parts were missing (as they were in
my K2 kit, my KSB2 kit, and my KPA100 kit) would be to call or e-mail
Elecraft about the missing parts.

C) No part was ever lost (how in the world would you lose something like
an entire PC board?)!!!

D) Never did I "destroy a part" and try to cover it up as "missing"!!!

As an experienced kit builder (my first kit was a DX-100 in 1955 and
dozens of other Heathkits since - none of which I can recall that had a
missing part) and as a NASA-certified solderer (now retired), other hams
who see my work comment on how professional it looks.
==========
From comments of others, I am apparently an exception to the rule when it
comes to missing parts. I apologize to those whom I may have offended by
my gripes and I'll accept their apology for slurring me if they'll offer
one to me.

Remember "Injun Joe" in the Li'l Abner comic strip? That's me, I guess,
with the eternal black cloud of bad luck hovering over me. Hope the
missing parts gremlin decides to haunt someone else for a change, hi.
