That's ANOTHER sort of drift that is never entirely eliminated: Thread
Drift. 

I scan the reflector with Outlook in "preview" mode so I can see the
first several lines of each message.

Dag nabit!  I just accidently read one of these messages with this Re:
subject line and found it had interesting material in it.   Please,
change
subject line to "the subject" when the subject changes.  I have been
missing potentially interesting stuff.  My delete key reads subject
lines first.  <poor me>  :-)
