[Elecraft] K2 Optical Encoder stiffness.

Hi Everybody.
The optical encoder on K2 #2681 has always seemed a little stiff to me - its
certainly a heap stiffer than the encoder on #0681, even with zero
contact/drag against the felt washer. It is still quite usable, but the max
freq change I can accomplish by 'spinning' the knob is just 500Hz, as
against over 2kHz on 0681.
I thought this might free-up with use, but it has not changed.
The tightness remains even when I remove the encoder's mounting hardware, so
does appear to be in the encoder itself rather than a fixing problem.
Anybody else had this problem? &, if so, did it clear with time? My fingers
are getting sore already!
The Mojo is still there though, cos QSOd OJ0LA on 20m on my 2nd call, at 5W,
thru a big pile-up (I don't use a beam either).
