Daniel, what is the source of this noise? Could you describe its sound?
Does it accompany SSB voices only or do you also notice it on CW? Is this a
tinnitus effect - which I have as well. Do you hear it only on the speaker
or on headphones as well?
The KAF2 provides a low-pass function when turned off which might reduce
any high-frequency artifacts coming along with SSB voice. But it is
primarily aimed at enhancing CW reception.
