A great source of hemostats (and forceps, another variety, but 
eminently useful) is the Central Processing Department (CPD) of your 
local hospital. The CPD folks are the ones that take care of 
sterilizing the various instruments used in the hospital.

Most surgeons won't use hemostats (or forceps) if the jaw alignment is 
not perfect. CPD usually chucks them if the docs don't like them. 
That's where I got the half dozen that grace my workbench.

Oh, I guess it does help that my wife works at a hospital :-)
