I had a TS850S and didnt use it to much. I wasnt sure why but I just =
wasnt filling up the log. In the fall of 2000 I sold the TS850S and =
bought a K2. I have had alot of fun with the K2 and recently a K1. I =
think the difference for me was that the Kenwood was a terrable CW rig. =
It was like CW was an afterthought. The QSK was so bad that I had to =
use VOX, a SSB switching mode. This does not make for enjoyable CW, =
which is my only operating mode. Also, I do not want a ham radio that =
requires you to send it to a factory service center to change the =
battery and that has a lable on the back that says "no user servicable =
parts inside". When you compare prices, rermember that you need $250 =
to$500 worth of filters to get the good CW results that the TS850S is =
known for. The Kenwood version of pass band tuning does not work well =
unless you have filters at two IF's. 73,Rick K7MW
