[Elecraft] Comparing the K2 to other rigs

I can supply some numbers for comparison. I returned my FT-1000D twice in
eight years. Both times it blew finals for no apparent reason (SWR was
flat, etc.) once and finals plus drivers once... $350 and $550 respectively
plus $65 freight to them each time. I have an Icom IC-275H two meter
all-mode that is currently into its third trip in about 15 years. Even to
replace dial lights in this rig is so complex and requires such a level of
disassembly, I gave up about 40 minutes into the process the one time I
decided to try it. The return is to deal with the optical tuning mechanism
which goes out periodically and tuning is very erratic-to-impossible. That
runs about $75 a pop.
The only repair to my K2 so far was to replace a blown diode which cost
<$1.00 for the part from Radio Shack.
