I totally agree.  The knowledge gained in building the K2 and the
psychological aspects of operating a rig that you built yourself
cannot be measured in dollars.

By the way, I had an IC761 for 10 years and it was never back to the
factory. After about 8 years the VCO caps needed to be replaced. With
parts and information provided by Icom, I made that repair myself.
Granted the K2 would be much easier to repair than the IC761 was.
