Thanks James and Thomas for your replies.

On the strength of both your advice, I ordered a 259B from the MFJ website.
I had been hampered before in that I could not find a way to order directly
from the US - I kept getting pointed to the UK distributor. I found the
button that helps get me past that and order directly.

Thanks for the modelling offer -  I'm trying various experiments with
slinkies and wire extensions - I suspect modelling will be a bit difficult!
