[Elecraft] K2 Front end etc

First of all chaps this is a great list,

My K2 #2746 was up an running on 1st August 2002AD, the line up consists of
K2 KAF2 & KAT2, I am 100% CW, I am very pleased with it,

I am wondering if this Sidetone problem was for builds before a certain
number because my Sidetone is perfect in fact I much prefer the Sidetone on
my K2 to the Sidetone on my JST245 which I have always considered to be too
hard, or does the K2 Sidetone deteriorate over time ?

K2 #2746 has now been in daily use for over 3 months which is a pretty good
soak test, the one problem I find with my K2 is that if there is a contest
on like most weekends and there are some big QRO signals about as there are
on most Contests the front end of my K2 seems to get flattened, I.E. the RF
noise disappears, the rig is obviously being desensitised, the antenna I use
is quite large I guess so has a large capture area 130' Doublet @ 30' I get
the same effect if I put my Sony2001 on a big antenna.
using the attenuator seems to have no effect,
so my question is do other K2'ers find this, I stress that under normal
operation the rig is perfect even operating on 40m in an evening I have no
problem, but come the weekend when the contest stations descend upon us I
have the problem my answer up to now has been to QSY to a non contest band!

You may gather that I am not a Contester like Tim NZ7C I am not a DXer been
licenced for 32 years which have all been spent ragchewing, I do not
consider that a return of "G3ZFZ 599 TU" constitutes a proper QSO but that
is another story hi.
