For a recent reference, see July 2002 QST, page 40. K4VX describes a 40M 
dipole that is shortened to 45 ft by using 400 ohm twinlead. There's a 
similar design in the ARRL Antenna Handbook for 30M. It''s a form of linear 
loading.
