Hi

I have Rev C manual and it lists 11.5-25 KHz as the acceptable range. But=
 I was told by Eric a month or so ago, as long as it will make 10 KHz or =
more, it will work with one crystal and the drift will drop by a factor o=
f 2. Since then I have done this mod on 4 K2's and it works fine. I have =
not found any crystals that would not make 10 KHz but that's not to say t=
hey all will. "Your mileage may vary"  ;-) The crystals are cheap if you =
should need to buy a new set and the mod is easy, so I think it's worthwh=
ile.

BTY I just noticed you said BFO test. This in not the BFO but the VFO. Th=
e test is on page 57 of the manual. That's where it lists 11.5-25 KHz. Th=
is mod will not help the BFO drift but will improve the VFO drift with te=
mperature.

I've only been sorta paying attention to this thread, but just now
looked in my K2 construction manual, Rev. A and found that the range for
the BFO test is 3.5kHz to 6 kHz.  When did this change?  Is removal of
one of the xtals still viable for my K2?
