[Elecraft] K2 Louder om 40m than any other band

I'm wondering if I am having a problem with my K2 or am just lucky. 
Everything on 40m receive, background noise, signals, pulse noise,
static, etc is much louder on 40m than on any other band. I find that I
am generally running with the attenuator turned on for 40m but use the
preamp a lot on all the other bands.  I've done the bandpass alignment at
least twice using an external analog meter to peak the output into a 50
ohm dummy load.  My K2 hears well on all the other bands it just hears
extremely well on 40. Is this typical or does my K2 have a problem.
