Hi Folks, Hi Lisa -

OK, I give up Lisa, send me the new amp please, I can't hold out any
longer!

Since getting into amateur radio in July, 2000, my K2 has pretty much
talked anywhere I wanted it to through my "stealth" horizontal loop -
all over the world :-). I never really tried 80m - just assumed that my
loop would be a NVIS and I'd be talking to myself. Not so - I found out
awhile back while having a cw ragchew on 80 between AZ and Idaho. That's
not supposed to happen but it does! Reminds me of something I think Gary
Surrency said - build an antenna and TRY it - because it's a VERY
peculiar science and you never know what will happen. Well, horizontal
loops can do a heck of a lot more than people say or the antenna
software says!

Anyway, last night I thought I would check into the NTS net on 3992
using SSB (talking on the air seems very odd since I've been hooked on
cw since day one). The NCO was in a town about 1.5hrs north of here. I
figured NO problem. But to my surprise the NCO had a lot of trouble
copying - even though I could talk with Tucson from Phoenix prior the
net. Not wanting to slow people down I switched to the 756 PRO at 100w
and bingo the NCO had no problem. Go figure propagation.

MORAL of the story, I'm going to go ahead and order the KAP/100 - it
could come in handy hi hi. Will sure be glad to see the new ATU though -
cause right now I will have to hook up both my LDG tuners - the Z-11 and
the AT11 - be VERY nice when the ATU will be in one box which says
Elecraft on it. I bet asking about the ATU drives Eric and Wayne crazy
after they've worked so hard on the amp! Sorry guys - can't help
myself. The amp looks so great one just can't help but wanting to go the
next step!!!!

Lisa, yep, I'll call you today heh, heh.

Regards, Tim Logan NZ7C
