[Elecraft] K2, Rainbow Tuner SWR Bridge, and MP-1

Hi folks -

The following paragraph is from the NJ QRP Club website under a
discussion of the FT817 and the MP-1. I'm curious about other users of
the K2 and MP-1. Frankly, I've just put on ear phones and moved the coil
until I got the highest noise level for the band I was listening to. Has
anyone used the SWR bridge mentioned below? As a practical matter is an
SWR bridge any better than your ear? Couldn't one do the same thing with
their MFJ antenna analyzer and just mark the coil and then leave the
analyzer at home? I'm just curious how K2 owners have fooled with this
question. Thanks for any input.
"a special version of the NJQRP Rainbow Tuner -- the absorptive SWR
bridge only (not the tuner part), mounted in a small box that provides
great inline LED indication of SWR, super useful for setting the
adjustable antennas like the MP-1 and the screwdriver antenna on the
truck. (Don't need or want a big SWR meter or ATU when doing portable
like this!)" 73, Tim Logan NZ7C
