[Elecraft] K1 illumination

Steve, instead of using a "small series resistor", could this also be 
done with a small pot?  That way, you could adjust it to your own needs 
on the fly.  Of even turn it off during the day.  Way Kewl.

I'm not an electronics whiz.  Could that be done as well?
