[Elecraft] K1 illumination

I haven't even finished my new K1 #1181 yet, but I'm thinking about this:

Take 5 or 6 axial-lead SMD green LEDs (suggest Lumex part number:
SSL-LXA1008SUGTR11) soldered in series, with a #28 stranded pigtail on each
end, and then slide the 'assembly' into a piece of small diameter clear
heatshrink tubing.

Shrink it, and you'd have a tiny "light bar" for the K1 display.  Mount it
"under" the display by sliding the 'bar' in place and securing it to the
pins of the LCD panel.  Adjust the intensity with a small series resistor,
if you like.

Anybody else try something similar yet?
