Further to my previous message...

I turned off all the sounds in the radio room and plugged the headphones
in the K2 and turned the AF Gain up and down...

...I DO hear background noise when I turn the pot all the way up (it seems
to be very quiet background noise) and can hear it decrease and go up
again as I turn the pot CW & CCW...but it seems low to me...it's not
blasting at all...maybe this test is assuming normal hearing?...

...I MUST explain that I have decreased hearing in both ears and I have
hearing aids for both ears...I cannot wear the aids for headpnone tests as
the closeness of the headphones and my hearing aid produce feedback...

...maybe I should try to use both hearing aids and just hold the
headphones near my ear?...or should I build anaudio amp (LM386) to plug
into the headphone jack in hopes that my problem would be solved so I
can hear the background noise?...

...aw, too soon we get old and too soon our parts wear out....hihi...

I am on page 85 of the manual and working my way through the BASIC CAL FIL
Setup...
...at Step 2. Set AF GAIN high enough to hear some background noise...I
take it I'm to plug in a pair of headphones in the front panel in order to
hear the noise...I have plugged in a pair of headpnoes with a stereo
connector but hear nothing...what am i missing please?...
